The Story began long ago . . .
Introduction:
The value of a story is sometimes of no value. The reason for that is that it has to be based on the truth. If the truth is not found in the story it becomes fictional and somehow it is just another tale that was told. Many people across the world love to read stories and yes many actually believe the fictional lies that are written in these stories. Some of the stories are based on people’s fantasies and dreams, and their wishes. Yes, great books have also been written and it has really transformed lives. Many of the stories told, have brought some form of expectation to the heart of men. Some have even written their own story on that which they have read. Yes, writing has brought great joy and also great sadness to the world. Men have used the pen to destroy lives far worse than what the sword had done. The pen has sent many a soul to hell because of the falseness of the research or the total misunderstanding of Gods written Word. How true is the saying, “The pen is mightier than the sword”!!
The story began long ago. . . .
The Pen and the Sword
We have all heard the saying; “Sticks and stones may hurt my bones but words may never harm me.” I dare say this is definitely not the truth. Our bones may heal, but our soul’s bare eternal burdens and scares of things that were said to us, or the things we have read. In books we find the same cause. Men read and believe so easily a lie rather than the truth. We all know once a seed of doubt has been sown into the heart of men it needs a lot of effort to convince a person that they actually believe a lie. The Pen can literally bring total confusion to the mind of man. But if it was not for the pen, the SWORD would never have been revealed. Let me explain:
The pen has been the tool to reveal a written Word that would have the power to slice through any form or obstacle. As a matter of fact, the sword is a sharp weapon but as we notice so is the pen. The Bible interprets it as follows; Hebrews 4:12 How deep is that? Just to imagine the depth of God’s Word. To think that one can be slain with one blow of a sword but that the Word has an effect upon ones soul. The reflection of the Scripture is judgment. No wonder that when one listens to the Word being preached or even being taught that it has an immediate effect on the conscience. Many have said after listening to a sermon preached from the Word, that they have changed or that things in their lives have been revealed, it is as though the words that were spoken from the Written Word, would pierce into their soul. Others have had answers given to them through the scriptures. How many have been warned by the Word. The greatest of all is the effect that it has on one’s life toward eternity. Salvation is preached and the Word convicts one from sin. Gods Holy Spirit uses the sword (literally the pen) to penetrate one`s feeling of guilt and shame. Then repentance takes place and Word starts the pruning process in one’s life.
Rom 10:17, 1 Peter 1:23, 1Pe 1:24-25, 1Pe 1:25
No matter how man argues the facts of the Bible the written Word has an effect on eternity. The unbeliever would call it foolishness and the Atheist would say it is unbelievable as there is no God. But again it is written Psa 14:1 This old, old story has been told since the beginning of time. When men had no pens they spoke the Word and as time went by the pen became the way of the spoken Word. It is now the means of many a souls’ salvation and it will be the final word for many men’s destruction and destination. It will condemn men for their sin and their unbelief. The power of the pen will be so to say “the final word uttered”. God said that on that final day the books will be opened and men will be judged by the Book of all books. Rev 20:12-15
The Power of God is revealed in the Written Word
It is hard to believe, but men have been gullible to believe lies written and told. But have totally come unstuck when the truth was told. They would rather believe a lie than believe that Jesus is the only way to heaven 2 Th 2:11-12
No man can come to God the Father without Jesus. John 14:6, John 14:7
It sounds so fairy tallish that men have considered it a myth and a lie. But as a matter of fact it is written that he that does not believe will never see God. Heb 11:6
The written Word actually forces one to consider the verdict of truth. It challenges the mind and makes one feel uncomfortable because of the sinful nature of man. When the written Word is read and some statements from the Word is made, one feels condemned and judged. We have to look inward and find our hearts condition. Many don’t like to do this as it means they have to change their way of living as God is a Holy God and if one wants to know Him in His fullness then one has to change. One can’t have one’s own view as the Word sets a standard to which one should live. Paul wrote and said:
2 Co 5:17-18, 2 Co 5:19
The power of God’s Word is so awesome that it blows the mind. It is a dead letter for so many but there cannot be any dispute on the day when great and small shall stand before Gods throne. The condemnation of the Word would pierce into the depths of man’s soul so much so that man will be reminded of every detail of his life. Man will be reminded of every time he was confronted with the everlasting life message. He will be reminded of the cross of Calvary and yes he will be reminded of the one who died on that cross. Believe it or not, as much as God had spoken the Word of life into this earth so will he speak the written Word on the final day!
Conclusion:
The story has begun long ago. Yet the story is ever new. Could it be that today as you would read this small article you would turn to the Bible for every question that you have and that the written Word would become your spoken Word as God begins a new work in your life.
My prayer for you is today that you will know that God has always had a plan with your life and that He has a place prepared for you. Come just as you are and let this old, old story bring you to your knees before a living God and begin a very new beginning for all eternity.
God bless you!!!!!
